Time Marches On....

Ever feel like there's not enough hours in the day?  There's just not enough time to get everything done that we need to.  But time marches on.  Things left undone will stay that way waiting for us tomorrow when we may or may not get to them.  Day to day responsibilities, mixed in with free time (what's that?) and those oh so regular interruptions can cause us to feel overwhelmed and irritable.  How are we suppose to do it all?  How are we suppose to showcase God's grace and love when everyone else is being so unreasonable?  It can be very difficult--last week everyone got on my nerves but the dog.

But.....God created time before He created us.  He placed us in a world structured by time--so we better learn how to prioritize it.  Check this out:

"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace."

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

For every scenario in life there is an opposite.  There is a good and there is an evil.  There is joy and there is sorrow.  It doesn't take a wise person like Solomon (who more than likely wrote this) to know that people long for more than this world has to offer.  People are very seldom satisfied or content.  When we see pain, we yearn.  When we see hunger, we question why.  Senseless deaths, endless tears, needless loss--they all cause us to wonder and question if this is all there is in this life.  Our souls cry out for more--which ironically is a good thing.  The problem?  We busy ourselves drowning out that cry with more and more activities, smothering the need for more time with God with less and less time in our day and more and more junk in our closets.

We can choose to focus on the joys rather than the sorrows.  The "why" questions in life are rarely answered--don't waste precious moments there.  God works for a purpose.  Every single thing He does will endure.  Isn't that amazing?  He doesn't need to stay busy or occupied--He works so that we can be in awe of Him.  He is trying to reveal Himself to us in His works so that we can know how incredibly fulfilling worship can be!  When we see the beauty of God's work and recognize the grace of His labor--we can be inspired to worship.  Worship can be life transforming.  It takes the focus off of us.  It lifts our chins up to the only One who can change anything anyway.

Don't block out your soul's yearning for something more.  That is placed their by God.  He's trying to get your attention--there is something more!  There is life abundant and joy complete found in God's only Son Jesus Christ.  There are a lot of things that waste our time, but I promise you this--time spent with God is never wasted.
